The OCADoll, and why you, the new OCAD student, should have one...

Welcome to OCAD! We know your fist year at university can be hard, and it's not always easy to make new friends...so why not buy one? ( Sort of) The OCADoll is perfect for you! The OCADoll can be personalized to your personal tastes, and can even be outfitted with accessories inspired from your program! Have hours of fun customizing yours and proudly show off your creative side! Literally!

How does it work?

Each OCASDoll package comes comes in either male or female, with standard detachable body parts. A mix of addtional, random body parts is also provided (two pairs of arms, two heads and two bottoms). Additional body parts are available separetely. Also included is a cellphone, iPod with headphones, energy drink, coffee, watch, and sunglasses. Further customize your OCADoll with "Program Packs", which are a collection of accessories that incorporate actual materials used in OCAD programs! (e.g. For a design student, the kit would include a Macbook, typography stencil, a finished poster, etc...)

Demograhic projections and research

This product is aimed at university students, and, for this version, specifically OCAD students. Ultimately, 18-25 years olds of either gender who wish to have an original product that reflects themselves and their school. The interchageability and accessories allow the product to appeal to a large percentage of the student body. This product my also appeal to alumni and may also find a market outside of OCAD. It was during in class product testing that I noticed that people were moving the head and arms around, an unexpected result due to my inability to resolve keeping a range of motion of these parts. Based on these observations, I decided that the doll would have interchangeable and less realistic body parts, to keep it interesting. It was also suggested that I make the doll's identity more cohesive and comprehensive, thus the initial, standard package and then subsequent kits that can be bought seperately.

Why is the OCADoll fun?

The OCADoll provides students with the chance to express themselves in ways that they may not be able to under normal circumstances; it provides them the fantasy of "being" a doll, in that they can look however they want and have whatever they want. It also helps them identify more with being a student at OCAD and with their program. By buying new kits and body part packs, the variations are endless for the OCADoll!

What does the future hold for the OCADoll?

World domination, of course....the OCADoll line, if initially successful, could include teacher dolls, which would reflect their programs much like the student do. Eventually, sets could be released that could include classrooms ( with chalkboard,tablers, etc...), the park( with hackysack, skateboard, etc... and a room in residence ( with a bed, desk, etc...).
