Final Proposal-Documentation Team-Josh, Lindsay, Katie and Bradley

Staredown-a-mania!
The Activate activity that we have created will be composed of two chairs facing each other in a boxing "ring'. The match will be regulated by a student who will act as the "ref". His duty will be to judge and time each match. Each match will go to three rounds and shouldn't last more than a couple of minutes.
The competitors will give themselves a boxer nickname, which will be placed on the results board, along with a polaroid picture of their stare, their results and their email (optional). The polaroid pictures will be recorded to make an online collage and then offered back to the competitor's at the end of the day. We could offer candy as a prize to the winners.
Two cameras placed behind each competitor will capture the stare of the opposing person. In another part of the Activate area, we will project the recorded stares onto a flat surface. The stares will be fed into an imovie program, and will have new stares constantly added, and played in a loop. this part of the project will be without the boxing aspect and will be used to have people stare back out of curiosity.
At the conclusion of Activate, we can post the results online, along with their rank.
Five stages of engagement
Attraction
There will be an announcer/referee and a boxing ring type setup to draw a crowd to the main event. People will be attracted to the competition and the possibility of winning something. People will feel nostalgic when they realize it is a staring contest. To promote the event we could start putting googly eyes on boxing gloves cut outs around OCAD. We could bombard the school with eyes staring at people from all over.
Entry
The first thing that people will see id the main event of the contest and boxing ring. The announcer or referee will direct the contest, getting people set up to play and telling them when to begin. People who want to compete will have a polaroid taken of their stare for the leaderboard and they will give themselves a "stare-warrior" nickname. Once people either watch or participate, they will exit an area where the footage of the stares will be projected on a wall.
Engagement
Whether they decide to compete or not, viewers will be engaged in the act of watching people watch each other. The discomfort of the contenders will resonate with the people observing. Once people go through the room with the virtual staring contest, they will go from being observers on the outside of the competition to being in the middle of a staring contest. They will exit the area, hopefully feeling disconcerted that they have become the subject of the stares they were an audience to only minutes before.
Extension
The polaroids we will take of the contestants for the leaderboard will be posted to a virtual board with the names, times, etc... We can post some video footage of people staring into the camera so that people at home can simulate the staring contest with the champions at home.
