This blog is dedicated to Jesse and Maya's Monday morning section of Introduction to Experience Design at the Ontario College of Art and Design, Winter 2009.
Idea 1: I like the idea of stress ball type of toy for an adult, especially if it is funny looking and someone might like the way it looks enough to have it as a decoration in their house. Another good thing about this idea is that you can use it by yourself and it serves a purpose as well as being funny. I like the idea of a little evil baby but it might be better if you used a character that people relate to and would want to squeeze to get their frustration out, like George W. Bush or Stephen Harper, or some other un-liked character. It might be difficult for you to make a prototype.
ReplyDeleteIdea 2: I like the turtle the best out of all of them. It is simple and cute. People love animals especially if they are slightly odd looking. I just wonder what you would make it out of. It could be played with by either adults of children, versatility is great. It would be good if it was small enough to sit on a desk as a little desk distraction from work.
Idea 3: Like the turtle above, I think this one would be best to be small and sit on a desk or table. I can't really see a group of adults pulling it out of the closet and setting it up to play a game, it would be more likely to be used now and then if its small and sitting in your office or something. I like the fact that there is a prize for accuracy and that you can get better at it with practice. Maybe you could put in some more funny phrases along with the "get your eyes checked".
Idea 4: This game is almost exactly the same as a memory game I had as a kid and played with my siblings until we lost too many of the cards to play anymore. Besides already existing you would need to have instructions an a box to go along with it. A good thing about this idea is that you would have the opportunity to do a cool design on the board that tells a story or puts some context into the game. I don't know if adults are likely to play this game unless there is some irony or pop-culture references injected into it.
Idea 5: I'm not sure I understand the concept of this game but its definitely interesting that the kids eat each other. There is potential for it to be funny in a morbid way but I'm not sure if that was your intention or not. It seems a bit childish but if you could create a narrative that is interesting for adults that would make it better. I think its good that it is simple, but it may be too simple to keep the attention of a group of adults.
