Top Experience Prize- Magic Sustenance

The experience everyone liked the most was the magic sustenance, where people could plant seeds into a huge patch of soil and fruits and vegetables would come up to the surface immediately.

Reasons for liking the magic sustenance:

-         Free Fruit

-         The idea of getting something from nothing was interesting to the audience.

-         Also, the fact that the coming up of the fruit and vegetables was so unexpected made it exciting and fun.

Improvements that could be made to it:

-         The experience could be more clear in terms of what it was about.

-         It would be better if there were less root vegetables and more fruits.

-         The experience could have had a better Extension; there was a place where people could eat the fruit but it was very messy and hidden. Maybe the eating area could have been a bit larger and less messier perhaps.

Staredown Website Archive

Hey Class,

The following is a link to a zipped archive file of the Staredown website. In order to view it, extract the files using any unzipping program (MacOS users can use Stuffit Expander which is free and can be downloaded here) and open the "index.html" file in any internet browser.

Exercise ten - Katie Goulet

I didn't really get a chance to look around so here are my observations for our project:
Attraction:
See: 2 chairs set up, crowd of people, sign up table
Hear: host and recruiter
Touch: game cards when you arrive, cookies if you win
Emotional state: curious, excited

Entry:
See: score cards on table
Hear: recruiter for games
Touch: name on cards
Emotional state: excitement

Engagement:
See: a person across from you, busling crowd around you,
Hear: crowd commenting, camera people commenting, announcer counting down
Touch: clasped hands in anticipation
Emotional State: nervous, excited

Exit:
See: the broadcast of the stares in the other hall
Hear: unchanged, still the crowd and announcer, recruiter
Taste: cookies and candy if you win
Emotional State: happy, relieved if you win, bummed if you didn't
Extension:
receive email about participating
visit site, look at documentation

Ethnographic observations:
the game worked well and the cameras projected successfully
our  location was a little obstructed by the posts
people who are waiting to play become a little jumbled and impatient
those playing are really intense!
there is a lot of interest in what is going on
people attempt to distract the players
there is a table where people sign up, with cards and markers, as well as the prizes

Budget & Return of Funds

Hey Class,

I will be returning the remaining balance of funds to everyone tomorrow and reimbursing those who made purchases for the event. Unfortunately, if you have not provided me with a receipt or at least informed me of the amount you purchased an item for, you will not be receiving a reimbursement for your purchase. We collected $380 for and spent $153.43 on this project, therefore each person will be receiving a minimum of $11.92 back depending on whether you made any purchases.

To view a PDF of the project budget click the link below. The password to access the file is "staredown".
